Our Curriculum

Recovery Curriculum

Due to the unprecedented shut down of schools in March 2020, most of our children have missed more than a term of their education.

Our pupils have had a varied range of personal and learning experiences during their time away. This calls for us to provide a mix of repair work and, as far as possible, a calm return to ‘normal’ teaching.

We feel the best way to do this is not to talk about ‘catching up’ but to focus on the basics and key skills that children may have missed or forgotten during their time away from school.

These basics and key skills have been incorporated into our planning for English and Maths, in order to reinforce key knowledge and increase students’ confidence. This will equip them far better to tackle any new learning.  They will then be able to apply these through our full return to a broad and balanced curriculum.

If you have any questions about our curriculum or the work we do in school, please speak to your child’s class teacher or alternatively, contact our Head Teacher, Mrs Bell, who will be happy to help. You can still view our archived plans on our website. View the classes section of our website to see the curriculum in action.

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

At Ropery Walk Primary School we believe that inclusive education means providing all pupils with appropriate education and support alongside their peers. The Curriculum is all the planned activities that the school organises in order to promote learning, personal growth and development. Further information can be found in the SEN Information Report. If you would like to discuss your SEND requirements in detail please contact the school to arrange an appointment.
