Y3 – Miss Armstrong 22/23

Welcome to Year 3

Our Learning

There are 15 wonderful pupils in the class with Miss Armstrong. Miss Bowe also works with the class on a Wednesday afternoon.

PE

Our P.E. days are Thursday and Friday. Please ensure that your child comes to school in their full PE kits on those days.

Home Reading

The children are given a reading book and they need to read every evening. We encourage you to sign their reading record each evening. Please make sure your child has their reading book in school every day for group reading.

In KS2 children access a programme called ‘Reading Plus’. This encourages our children to practice scaffolded silent reading. Children have their own usernames and passwords. To access this at home visit –
https://student.readingplus.com/seereader/api/sec/login

Children also have access to Fiction Express. They love using this in school and will know their username and password. To access this at home please visit – https://en.fictionexpress.com/account/login/

Times Tables

It is also very important that your child knows their times tables as they help with almost every area of maths. They will receive times tables to learn each week. The test will be a rapid recall test on a Friday. Alongside this, they can practise at home on Times Table Rockstars. The children know their usernames and passwords and can access it by visiting – https://play.ttrockstars.com/auth/school/student

Spellings

The children will be given spellings on a Friday and we will complete a spelling test on the following Friday. Even though we complete lots of spelling activities during the week, the children are still encouraged to practise their spellings when they are at home.

Curriculum

We cover lots of fun topics throughout the year in Year 3. Please find our curriculum map below. We will be adding more information about the curriculum throughout the year.
